Design Manager - A Fantastic Opportunity in Helston, Cornwall Are you an experienced and dynamic Design Manager looking for a new challenge? our client have an exciting opportunity at the head office in Helston, Cornwall, for a proven Design Manager to lead a team of talented CAD designers. In this role, you’ll oversee both new and existing products and projects, playing a pivotal part in driving the success of our design department. Key Responsibilities: Team Leadership & Development: Build, nurture, and lead a successful, high-performing design team. Use your hands-on experience to motivate and guide team members to deliver exceptional design solutions that blend creativity with practical fabrication and installation knowledge. Quality Assurance & Safety: Work closely with your team to review designs and ensure that all safety factors are incorporated. Your role will ensure that designs are not only functional but also meet the highest safety and quality standards.Project Management: Ensure that all design projects meet key targets of time, cost, and technical performance. Manage project schedules effectively to guarantee that all deadlines and project milestones are achieved. Stakeholder Engagement: Attend and lead meetings with customers, suppliers, and internal departments. Ensure that all design requirements, progress, and schemes are reviewed and aligned with client expectations and internal goals. Cross-Departmental Collaboration: Liaise with other departments to ensure that designs are cost-effective, manufacturable, and meet performance specifications. Your involvement will help drive efficiency and effectiveness across the company. Continuous Improvement: Actively contribute to the growth of the design team and the company. Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices in design and project management.Knowledge & Experience Requirements:Essential: Proficiency in CAD Software: Solidworks (or similar CAD software) expertise is a must. Your experience with 3D modelling and design is essential to the success of the team. Accuracy and Attention to Detail: A disciplined approach to work and a strong focus on delivering accurate designs. Your ability to maintain high-quality standards in all aspects of your work will set you apart. Industry Experience: Proven experience in construction or a related industry, with a deep understanding of design for manufacturing and installation.Desirable: Fabrication Knowledge: Experience in fabrication, especially with steelwork or metal components, will be an advantage in ensuring your designs are both innovative and practical. Third-Party Collaboration: Experience working with third-party contractors and support services to bring designs to life will be valuable. Leadership Skills: Experience in managing individual performance, fostering team development, and providing feedback to improve team output and success.Salary £45,000.00 – £50,000.00 (DOE) This is a fantastic opportunity to step into a leadership role with a growing company.
